Many famous and not so famous people have utilized backpacking as a way to discover the diverse cultures and languages of Europe. As international travel becomes more sophisticated it is important for any plans to travel include a comprehensive itinerary. Although it is possible to enjoy the thrill of impromptu, you should have an idea where you'll be traveling. Here is a list of three things to include:
%u2022 The time of the year: There is a good reason that most people travel during the summer season. The perfect weather is one of them. But because of over crowded tourist sites and higher prices many people travel during a variety of seasons. Traveling in the winter is one way to find plenty of places to stay, but you'll find less places open to visit. Attractions such as museums are usually open all year around.
%u2022 Your Length of stay: Decide on whether you will be traveling for two days, two weeks or two years. Of course it will be different for everybody. Three or four weeks is recommended for first timers. This will give you plenty of time to see many wonderful things.
%u2022 Your costs to stay: It may be impossible to assign an exact amount to your trip. There are so many things to see and do in Europe it would take a life time. But you should figure out all of your travel expenses ahead of time. Add an average of fifty dollars per day for extra expenses. Use credit cards wherever possible. Don't forget to include train and air fare and your hotel accommodations.
One of the most important things to have in place ahead of time is your passport. There are four steps to take in order to acquire your passport. Passports are good for ten years after issue.
%u2022 Step One: Gather your proof of citizenship. In other words- your birth certificate.
%u2022 Step Two: Get two photographs taken for your passport. Any local store will do.
%u2022 Step Three: Go to any State or Federal Courthouse or any US Post Office.
%u2022 Step Four: Pay the fee for your passport to be made (approximately $65).

You can visit Turkey, Italy and Greece in around eighteen days or so. Plan your route to start at Istanbul to Athens, Delphi and Troy, and then go through Florence and to Rome. You will experience the uniqueness of each culture as you travel.
Some travelers prefer starting at London and traveling through Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Venice and many more. A grand tour of Europe may take thirty days or more to get started. It can be done in fifteen days as well. Plan your trip according to your needs.
